“I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service. I acted and behold, service was joy.” – Rabindranath Tagore
Reminiscing on this thought, we have started one of the most thoughtful CSR initiatives by Pinnacle Infotech – ‘WASH’ (Water and Sanitation Hygiene) for tribal villages in India.
Clean water and sanitation hygiene are arguably the most necessary amenities for a community. We here at Pinnacle have selected Dhoadanga village as our first site of action.
WASH has successfully installed toilets and hand pumps for clean water in the Dhoadanga village under the Gopalpur Gram panchayat of Kanksa Block, West Bardhaman. However, it is just the beginning.
The initiative is not just limited to installing toilets and providing clean water to the rural communities. It also focuses on educating school children, especially girls, about the importance of basic sanitation and hygiene.
WASH mainly focuses on five major things, and they are:
- Supplying safe water for various purposes
- Providing and maintaining safe toilets, prioritizing women’s safety and hygiene
- Active disease surveillance and increased vigilance on water quality and sanitation practices during a disease outbreak
- Waste and drainage management
- Promoting hygiene
WASH has received a splendid response in the Dhoadanga village, and it will encourage us to serve better.
