Meldahl Hydro Electric Facility

Location: Ohio River, Foster, Kentucky, USA
Pinnacle was the BIM solution provider for the Meldahl Hydro Electric facility on the Ohio River at Foster, Kentucky. (Project Value: $504 million) The project consisted of 3 massive Turbines producing 105 MW of power. The Meldahl project’s proposed 138kV transmission line now carries electricity to the national grid crossing the Ohio River and running 2.2 miles to an existing PJM interconnection in Clermont County. We offered 3D Modeling of Cast in Place & Precast Concrete, Constructability Analysis, Lift Drawings & Dynamic Quantity Schedule for this Hydro Electric Facility. The models and lift drawings delivered by Pinnacle underwent thorough checking for design discrepancies, adherence to codes, constructability and coordination issues.

Value Added

Pinnacle produced detailed Lift Drawings, within a tight deadline. The Lift Drawings are extremely critical as they form the basis for concrete pours.

The accuracy and turn-around time are extremely critical as the contractor’s material and labor cost would be adversely affected in case of delay or error.

Pinnacle produced 100 – 120 Lift Drawings every month to meet Baker’s aggressive pouring schedule while ensuring error-free construction. Every minute detail like embeds, water-stops, cut-outs are incorporated in every Lift Drawing to prevent issues later when MEP subs will come into the fold.
