The New Children’s Hospital (NCH) represents Ireland’s most significant healthcare investment yet and promises to establish itself as a premier pediatric health institution globally. By consolidating services currently dispersed across three separate children’s hospitals, the NCH is planned to transform into a state-of-the-art facility, meticulously crafted and digitally equipped to cater to evolved healthcare requirements. Spanning an impressive 160,000 square meters, this facility will comprise seven stories above ground along with a basement, boasting over 6,000 rooms.
Among these, there will be 380 individual in-patient rooms, each complete with an en-suite and a dedicated bed for parents to stay close to their children. Additionally, the facility accommodates 60 critical care beds, 93 daybeds, and 22 operation theatres. Beyond its medical amenities, the hospital offers a sprawling four-acre outdoor area featuring 14 gardens and courtyards, along with a helipad.

The Dublin New Children’s Hospital project has 10 zones and 7 levels. Our team worked on MEP BIM Services taking up 3D BIM modeling and coordination work for Ventilation, Mechanical piping, Plumbing (DWV & DWS, RO Water), Medical gas, Pneumatic tube, Module placement, Cut-out placements, and Hangers.
The preliminary input drawings lacked sufficient details, posing a significant challenge in developing the model for each floor. Additionally, managing extensive lists of specifications and feedback from Jones Engineering Group proved to be a primary consideration, with viewpoints shifting multiple times even after completing the model. Furthermore, reliance on numerous subcontractors and network dependencies added to the complexity of the project.
As it was a design-build project, we were instructed to change the model on the design team Markups/Viewpoints and most of the issues were solved during the weekly meeting with the client and through viewpoints.
Our team of BIM engineering services experts working on the New Children's Hospital Dublin project applied their long-held expertise at working on BIM Services for hospital projects. We closely worked with the client to dive deep into the details of the project and raised RFIs/proposed solutions to resolve issues to get the best output in a timely manner.
