Facebook’s Prineville Data Center is located at 735 S.W. Connect Way, Oregon, USA. The facility supports Facebook’s expanding data center infrastructure through customized power, cooling, construction, and equipment solutions.
CCO5-6 is a private data center owned by Facebook and comprises three buildings: CCO5, CCO6, and the Admin Building.
Pinnacle provided Data Center BIM Modeling Services for the project, focusing on concrete structure modeling, coordination, value engineering, validation, and shop drawing creation.
Pinnacle’s scope included LOD 400 BIM modeling and shop drawing services for the concrete structure of the data center.
The scope of work included:
Contractor(s):Concrete Structure
Challenge: The project required coordination among multiple stakeholders and project teams.
Solution: Pinnacle used BIM 360 model sharing to enable seamless cloud-based collaboration and information exchange.
Challenge: The project covered more than 1.4 million sq. ft., creating significant modeling requirements within a limited timeline.
Solution: Pinnacle created reusable Revit families for slab edges, thickened slabs, and sloped slabs. This reduced repetitive work and improved modeling efficiency.
Challenge: The project required shop drawings within a tight submission schedule.
Solution: Pinnacle used Pence Kelly templates and in-house Revit add-ins to accelerate shop drawing preparation.
Challenge: Coordination issues occurred between grids across the three buildings.
Solution: Pinnacle raised the concerns during coordination meetings with Pence Kelly and worked with the team toward resolution.
Challenge: Modeling three buildings within a single project created large file sizes and coordination challenges.
Solution: Pinnacle divided the project into three separate models for Admin, CCO-5, and CCO-6, enabling more efficient model management and coordination.
Challenge: The project required model submissions within a short timeframe.
Solution: Pinnacle modeled CCO-5 first and used a flip-and-rotate approach for CCO-6. This optimized the modeling workflow and reduced execution time.
Challenge: Coordination issues arose between project disciplines and building elements.
Solution: Pinnacle raised concerns during coordination meetings, highlighted clash areas, and collaborated with the client to resolve issues using updated drawings.
Pinnacle's BIM approach helped identify constructability issues before construction and supported coordinated project delivery.
Pinnacle's Data Center BIM Coordination Services helped improve modeling efficiency, coordination, and project delivery.
