Pinnacle Infotech worked on The Lumcon Houma Marine Campus project developing the mechanical and plumbing models for the structure. Located at Dickson Road, Houma, Louisiana, LUMCON uses education and outreach to empower the next generation of marine scientists and ocean-literate citizens. The Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium (LUMCON) was formed in 1979 to coordinate and stimulate Louisiana’s activities in marine research and education. LUMCON provides coastal laboratory facilities to Louisiana universities and conducts research and educational programs in the marine sciences.

The client wanted value optimization to be addressed thoroughly. This added to the complexities in terms of carrying out the project and increased the chances of production lags and process halts.
We raised RFIs and communicated with the client through weekly review meetings. This included taking the client's suggestion before dealing with any coordination issue such as rerouting of the duct. We also created fabrication scripts and shared them with the client to meet the requirement of sheet metal CAM.
The material to be used needed to be planned as per the cost constraints.
As per the project specifications, we made adjustments to the pipe material and length in order to minimize the number of short pieces and thereby reduce costs. Additionally, we prepared a sample drawing illustrating the cutting lengths of the piping based on the fabrication package.
Generating hanger drawings and the corresponding Bill of Materials (BOM) presented a challenge. It was difficult to obtain precise hanger sizes and rod diameters for the fabrication Clevis hanger, which was designed specifically for individual pipes.
We raised RFIs and communicated with the client through weekly review meetings. We took the client's suggestion before dealing with any coordination issues such as rerouting pipe and duct. In this process, we utilized a dynamo script to get the fabrication object (Hanger) size and rod diameter. Also, we created some fabrication scripts and shared them with the client to meet the requirement of sheet metal CAM.
