Hinojosa Architecture & Engineering (HAI) delivers multidisciplinary architecture and engineering services for renovation and alteration projects across Texas, including institutional and nonprofit facilities such as the SPCA of Texas – Lone Star Campus Alterations, which is one of the top animal welfare agencies in North Texas. Supporting the project plan, Pinnacle delivered 3D BIM model creation, BIM coordination, and preparation of shop drawings/2D drawings. These services enhanced multidisciplinary alignment, minimized clashes, improved constructability, and ensured smoother execution within the active campus environment.

Scope of Work

Our scope of work for the project included:

1. 3D BIM Model Creation

  1. A. Exterior & Interior Walls, Doors & Windows, Railings, Wall Skirting, Parapets, Verticals (Stairs & Elevators), Ceilings & Soffits, Roof Framing, Wall Corners, Louvers & Vents, Wall Tiles, Toilet Partitions, Floor Slabs, Curtain Walls & Mullions, Metal/Wood Stud Framing, Roofs, Floor Framing, Downspouts & Scuppers, Roof Soffits, Fascia & Gutters, Fixtures, Storefronts/Curtain Walls, Columns Steel & Concrete), Skirting.
  2. B. Architectural 3D model update to upgrade the most recent architectural model received to a level suitable for preparing the required CD set.

2. BIM Coordination

BIM coordination with other disciplines to resolve clashes and ensure alignment between architectural, structural, and MEP systems, improve constructability, and support efficient design development and permitting.

3. Preparation of Shop Drawing / 2D Drawings

Exterior Walls, Interior Walls, Doors and Windows, Railings, Wall Skirting, Parapets, Stairs, Elevators.

Challenge: Timeline Challenge - Completion of the Project within a limited time

Solution: We used our long-held domain expertise and completed the work within the stipulated timeframe.

Challenge: Issue faced with coordination with other disciplines

Solution: We maintained clear communication and stayed aligned with updates provided by various consultants.

Challenge: Dimension Issue - Revit rounded to 1/32", but fractions remained

Solution: We requested the client to advise on the process for minimizing the dimensional issues.

Challenge: Schedule

Solution: We suggested that the client create the door and window schedules in Revit instead of using manual schedules to improve project accuracy.
