Pinnacle Infotech executed the BIM modeling for Merlin Park CNU in Dublin, Ireland. Pinnacle’s scope of work for the Merlin Park CNU Project includes BIM implementation for the Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Medical Gas Supply Lines. The models were created in Autodesk’s Revit and contained detailed information about the building design, construction, and operation.

Pinnacle Infotech also provided clash detection services to identify conflicts between the different building systems for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and medical gas supply lines and equipment.

In addition to creating the BIM models, Pinnacle Infotech provided pre-bid/cost estimation services. This involved using the BIM model to provide accurate timelines and cost estimations for the project.

  • Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing & Medical Gas services clash-coordination with other services
  • Architecture, Structure, and Specialist design modeling

Challenges

Modelling without IFC documents

Referring to sample projects instead of IFC (Information For Construction) drawing in a Building Information Modeling (BIM) project presented many operational challenges. Sample projects typically lack the necessary inputs and contextual detailing required to have precise construction planning and coordination.

On the other hand, IFC drawings provided comprehensive information about the project's design, materials, and specifications. The absence of reliable IFC drawings led to confusion, misinterpretation, and potential errors during construction.

Challenges like these hamper the ability to visualize the project and accurately hinder effective collaboration among stakeholders. Overcoming this challenge necessitates finding alternative methods to obtain precise and reliable construction information for seamless integration within the BIM project.

Solutions

Fool-proof planning and implementation by Pinnacle Infotech

In the absence of detailed IFC drawings, we thoroughly studied the sample project to understand the desired outcomes, specifications, and structural requirements. We meticulously examined the architectural and engineering elements depicted in the sample, analyzing the layout, dimensions, and material selections to define the project scope and build a process framework to best serve the client’s requirements.

Pinnacle's Value Addition

Pinnacle Infotech's BIM services added significant value to the Merlin Park CNU redevelopment project in several ways:

Reduced Costs:

Pinnacle Infotech's cost estimation services helped in reducing costs by providing accurate and detailed information about the project's construction sequences and cost factors. This enabled the project team to make informed decisions about the project's design and construction, which helped in reducing waste and optimizing resource output.

Improved Quality:

Pinnacle Infotech's BIM models helped in improving the overall quality of the project by providing detailed information about the building's design and construction. This enabled the project team to identify and resolve any design or construction issues before they become costly problems, which helped in improving the building's overall quality.

In summary, Pinnacle Infotech's BIM services added significant value to the Merlin Park CNU redevelopment project by improving collaboration, reducing costs, improving quality,
and enhancing sustainability. By enabling all-encompassing and detailed BIM models, Pinnacle Infotech helped the Merlin Park team to achieve their construction goals and deliver a successful project that completely met their requirements.
