Pinnacle's Scope of Work:

• Pinnacle was responsible for creating 3D Models and extracting quantities of the elements.
• Providing the Fab
• Finding any possible issues that might arise during construction.
• Providing the IFC file for the client’s review.
• Providing the KSS file and the DXF file for the part drawings.
• Providing NC files for all plates (Connection plate, Gusset plate, Base plate) to be used in the structure.
  

Challenges

Challenge 1: Fixing the Gusset plate connection:

Fixing the Gusset plate connection: In the structural document, we only had a general detail of the Gusset plate connection which was completely different from the connection that was needed in our model. We had multiple HSS bracing that was connecting with the column, and all of these had to be connected with a single gusset plate.

Challenge 2: Fixing the trade and riser in the steel stair section:

Another big challenge was to model the stair and fix the trade and riser dimension. The detail provided for the stair was followed but we figured that the horizontal length of the stair needs to be revised so that the stair can be placed perfectly.

Solution: Fixing the Gusset plate connection:

Our team calculated the exact length by which the stair needs to be increased for the stringer to be placed correctly. The changes were accepted and the structural design was updated.
